DO YOU NEED TO LET DOGS UP ONTO THE FURNITURE?
A lot of dog owners especially the new ones tend to have some common question in their heads that they look for their vets for answers.
- Should you allow your dog to sit on the furniture?
- Should you let it sleep in your bed?
- Should your dog be allowed to get on the couch?
There are plenty of dog owners out there who allow their dogs on to the furniture in their house. There are some animal lovers who pick out their furniture keeping their pets in mind as they think dogs should not be allowed on the sofa or the bed. For some reason, many of the dog owners think this is because of aggression or behavioral issues while some do it simply because of personal preferences.
DOES ALLOW DOGS ON FURNITURE HAVE ANY BEHAVIORAL EFFECTS?
Despite what a lot of people think, allowing your dog on your furniture will not make it think it is in charge. It will not cause any aggression or dominance. However, you should also be careful not to reinforce certain behaviors as you might end up sending wrong messages.
You should teach your dog not to growl or snap if you are trying to remove it from the furniture or if it is hogging the sofa or bed. Instead, it should be taught to make room for you.
