HOLISTIC MEDICINE

As soon as humans began domesticating animals, ten thousand years ago, they became ill through confinement but also because of natural illnesses brought on by old age. Animals were treated using natural herbs to help with their illness. Holistic medicine was used for an extended period of time, up until quite recently, to treat everything from gut disorders to itchy skin and ear infections.

Holistic medicine can in many ways mimic the effect of many drugs without the toxic consequences. Holistic treatment options are useful for treating medical conditions in older pets and pets with sensitivities, as there are little to no side-effects.

Holistic medicine, in essence, is humane to the core. The approach used in holistic medicine is gentle and non-invasive, giving rise to its increasing popularity among pet owners. Our veterinarians will use conventional and alternative medicine to customize unique treatment programs for each and every pet.

ACUPUNCTURE

Using age-old techniques of acupuncture and acupressure has proven effective in treating a wide range of health-related complications and illnesses. Acupuncture, a small component of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), focuses on reinstating the energy balance in the body, promoting healing. Acupuncture requires the insertion of very fine needles into the body at specific spots called acupuncture points. This is where blood vessels and nerves intersect or meet. Blood circulation, stimulation of the nervous system, and the body’s release of anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving substances are some of the positive effects of acupuncture in pets.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN ACUPUNCTURE TREAT?

Musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis, intervertebral disk disease, or trauma

Respiratory problems

Skin problems such as lick granulomas and allergic dermatitis

Gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea

Selected reproductive problems
