SOFT TISSUE & ORTHOPEDICS
Veterinary Orthopedics focuses on diseases of the musculoskeletal system in pets. We treat joints, soft tissue, bones, muscle, ligaments, and tendons. Orthopedic disorders can be hereditary or caused by trauma, infections or immune disorders. We provide a full range of services – from screening and diagnosis to medical care and rehabilitation. We treat conditions including but not limited to hereditary joint disorders, patella luxation, fractures, cruciate ligament tears, and arthritis.
Our board-certified surgeons have more than 125 years of combined experience. They work together with anesthesiology specialists who supervise all patients throughout the duration of the operation. Our orthopedic specialists are well versed in managing pain, healing broken bones, and internal and external injuries. A big part of our job is pain management and post-operative care.
Orthopedic surgery is performed under general anesthesia. An in-depth physical exam and blood panel will be studied prior to any anesthetic treatment. We closely monitor all patients with the aid of the latest technology and heat support to ensure your pet is always comfortable. We use IV (intravenous catheters) with all patients to safely administer fluids throughout the procedure. Your pet’s safety is always our #1 concern.
Pain management is a crucial aspect of our pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative anesthetic and medical protocol. All surgical patients, including those undergoing routine procedures receive pain control medication.
